JOB DESCRIPTION:

An Author Coach supports writers in our Groundbreakers Author Mastermind program by helping them clarify goals, stay accountable, and navigate the challenges of building an author career. This role is less about having all the answers and more about drawing from your experience and training to guide discussions, ask thoughtful questions, and share practical insights. Author Coaches connect with participants through group calls, private check-ins, and email support to create a supportive space where authors feel encouraged, challenged, and equipped to take their next steps.

COMPENSATION:

This is a freelance position with up to 10-15 hours per week of anticipated work during the training period, and the option to expand depending on the number of clients you would like to support. Compensation will start at $18 per hour for training. Following training, author coaches are paid at a per-client rate.

RESPONSIBILIITES:

  • Facilitate group discussions and learning with participating authors, both in Zoom and in our Slack workspace
  • Provide encouragement, accountability, and constructive feedback in line with program goals
  • Track participant progress and maintain meticulous client records
  • Communicate with participants on a daily basis
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive environment where authors feel safe to share openly
  • Stay up to date with trends in self-publishing and bring fresh perspectives to team discussions
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure a consistent, high-quality participant experience

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A positive attitude and desire to be part of a supportive team while helping authors
  • The ability to work and communicate in a virtual environment utilizing Slack, Zoom, Google Docs, and Email
  • Previous experience as a student of our Author Ad School course or coaching programs
  • Personal experience in writing fiction or nonfiction released through the KDP platform
  • An interest in continuous learning from and with our team to expand publishing and marketing knowledge
  • 10-15 hours of availability per week
